Phil is an experienced pianist
, having worked as a secondary school music teacher, accompanist, musical director and conductor over the past 40 years.
Phil works as a freelance pianist for soloists, choirs etc.
Phil also teaches piano.

Phil does work with the aged care, where he entertains residents as part of their Leisure and Wellness programs. He has worked at facilities run by Resthaven, Eldercare, Anglicare, Allity and Estia Health. This he does in the form of a Sing-along.
Phil is passionate about sharing his love for music with the elderly. He understands their needs, having worked as a carer in aged care.
Many residents look forward to Phil arriving to entertain for an hour. Not only is music a relaxation activity for them, but for quite a number of people with dementia, music really still speaks to their memories of long ago.

Phil’s current program is based on songs mainly from the 1950’s and 1960’s. *
He has found this to be successful, as residents can easily identify with the music of this period, catering particularly for those suffering from short term memory loss – their old music memories stay with them.

Large font laminated song books are provided.

Songs of this program are:

  • Edelweiss
  • The Sound of Music
  • Rock Around the Clock
  • Love Me Tender
  • Blue Suede Shoes
  • Love Letters in the Sand
  • Lollipop
  • Tammy
  • A White Sport Coat
  • Mame
  • Georgie Girl
  • Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head
  • Over the Rainbow
  • Puff the Magic Dragon
